The April Fools

Traditionally a light-hearted day. Many no longer even notice it has arrived, and that is a loss. Oh, we still see the half-hearted items in newspapers (what’s that?) and the occasional spoof TV news video, but their heart is not in it.

The fun seems to have gone out of the day. I think I know the reason. The current state of the world is too dire for much light-hearted fun. Here a few examples of what squeezed out the fun today, arranged from the horrifying to the ninny:

2. U.S. Negotiating Team Mainly There to Speak on Iran’s Behalf [The Weekly Standard]
3. Obama, son of anarchy in the scrambled Middle East [NY Daily News]
4. Urban warfare drills rattle FL [SunSentinel]
5. Boko Haram kills, ‘beheads with chainsaws’ 40 people to derail Nigeria elections [RT News, Moscow]
6. U.S. signed agreement with Mexico to teach immigrants to unionize [Washington Examiner]
7. Obamacare Promises Tax-Season Surprises [National Journal]
8. Tourist apologizes for snapping selfie near East Village blast site [New York Post]
9. ‘Arizona Lawmaker: Church Attendance Should Be Mandatory’ [CBS Las Vegas]
10. Rep. King Doubles Down On Asking How Jews Can Be Democrats [Talking Points Memo]

Note that the first seven items lie at the feet (of clay) of the poser-in-chief. The “selfie tourist” in the eighth item is a Democrat operative who served in both Obama White Houses and speaks for the Iowa Democrat Party. Finally, just for balance, the last two are RINOs. Stupid is not the exclusive property of either “party”

More bad news? I could have doubled the list in just a few more minutes. Note that the sources cover the political spectrum; none are FOX News.

What does it all mean? I’m not smart enough to know, but here is speculation:

• We are in a dangerous time for the United States and for the world. (Well duh)
• Besides Netanyahu, there is no courageous leadership to confront any of this.
• Both political parties are maneuvering for political advantage and the Republic be damned.
• The body politic is so hung up on racial, gender and “other” identity that the most important non-political question seems to be how big Kim Kardashian’s booty is…

More shocks to come? Well, yes.

• Blacks will discover that new undocumented Americans have gladly taken all the low-wage jobs that those Blacks willing to work could have found. And all the new freebie Government handouts will be available only to “new” citizens (old citizens be damned).

• Professional race pimps will flock to a new clientele – undocumented Americans. (Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), please pick up the white courtesy phone). Blacks will lose their voice in the Least-Significant Media because they are no longer “special little snowflakes”. Another snowflake group has replaced them.

• Fast-food workers will go from having a job at $7.75/hour to being out on the street at $15/hour. But they will have solid Union representation and dues will be withheld from their government unemployment checks.

• PhD holders in “Womyn’s Studies” and “Authentic Gender Criticism” with a minor in “Confronting Heteronormative Privilege” will remain unemployed and continue to live with their Mom and Dad, all the while stridently despising their parents for being the craven bourgeois reactionaries that they are. Each will still owe $90,000 in student loans.

Robots will have all the burger-flipping jobs.

Nobody is going to like the situation. Progressive shrieking will be heard about the unfairness of it all. “We are special and this wasn’t supposed to happen to us.”

Conservatives will point out that the Progs voted for all this.

Rich Schadenfreude ensues.

Recently, I have taken to counseling patience for the next two years. God willing, a true Conservative Patriot will be elected president and will, with a like-minded Congress unwind the most egregious Prog Executive Orders, bureaucratic rules and wrongheaded laws. That will take time to accomplish and some of the damage is likely permanent.

The risk is that a world calamity will overtake us before the two years have passed. The greatest danger is not rogue airline pilots or weak squishy lying unethical politicians. Those things have limited effect or take awhile to do damage.

Fast Forecast:
• Iran will strike Israel with a nuclear bomb as soon as it is capable.
• Netanyahu will never permit that to happen unanswered. At a minimum, Tehran and the nation of Iran will cease to exist, in a very bright flash as the 12th Imam briefly returns and then departs.
• Pakistan is ready, willing and able to sell nukes (cash only, no credit cards).
• All the Arab Kingdoms will arm up with nukes and dare anyone to look crosseyed at them.

Against that backdrop, Obama has sternly warned in a United Nations speech “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.” [The White House Office of the Press Secretary, September 25, 2012]

Apocalypse Now? Who knows? But maybe soon unless wise decisions and cooler heads pull us back from the abyss.

All we can do now is wait and pray.

The Man Who Read Too Much

Part of my process for writing is to read all the news every day. Now that I am retired, I have time to follow my main news sources and about a dozen blogs. I am always looking for an article that raises my ire enough to generate a blog post. What has happened is a feeling of being overwhelmed with bad news. I don’t recall ever feeling like this in my 69 years. I am a cheerful and optimistic person and so I know that this too will pass.  /end of whine/

Now, back to my regularly-scheduled ranting.

As politicians near the end of their “service” they begin to be concerned about how historians will view them. It’s a last-chance opportunity to make a mark; a lasting memorial to their accomplishments.

For example, consider Lyndon Johnson.

  • “Great Society” legislation upholding civil rights, created [progressive] public broadcasting, enacted Medicare and Medicaid, created a new environmental protection agency, provided massive aid to education and the arts, pushed urban and rural development. During the “War on Poverty”, poor schools and poverty were eliminated.
  • Escalated American involvement in the Vietnam War. In 1964, Congress passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution (based on a lie). “Once-classified documents and tapes released in the past several years, combined with previously uncovered facts, make clear that high government officials distorted facts and deceived the American public about events that led to full U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War” [U.S. Naval Institute February 2008] This granted Johnson the authority to use military force in Southeast Asia without having to ask Congress for an official declaration of war.
  • The number of American military personnel in Vietnam increased dramatically, from 16,000 advisers in non-combat roles in 1963, to 550,000 in early 1968, mostly in combat roles. He overruled military leaders to select bombing targets in North Viet Nam. When the war ended in 1973, over 58,000 American soldiers had died. Communists overran South Viet Nam resulting in wide-spread re-education camps for Vietnamese citizens and a lasting, “just” peace in Viet Nam.
  • Gun Control Act of 1968. Streets are much safer now (like Chicago).
  • Creation of a massive new Transportation Department – which would include the Commerce Department’s Office of Transportation, the Bureau of Public Roads, the Federal Aviation Agency, the Coast Guard, the Maritime Administration, the Civil Aeronautics Board and the Interstate Commerce Commission. Big government really works.
  • Under his “leadership”, legislation created a permanent underclass of blacks in homes where no-one has ever held a job, created three generations of fatherless children and eventually encouraged the murder of millions of unborn minority babies.
  • He left office in disgrace as Viet Nam fell to the Communists and hippies were rioting in he streets.

Jimmy Carter. Because of Richard Nixon’s criminal excesses, Carter was able to defeat Gerald Ford and was elected President.

  • Created the Department of Energy. Useless burden, leading to a national energy policy in 1979 that included conservation and price controls. Remember rationing at gas stations?
  • Created the Department of Education. Apparently Johnson’s education plans needed “tweaking”. Now, there are no bad schools. For real.
  • The US-developed Panama Canal was returned to Panama. Effective control was passed to China. (The Chinese penetration of Panama has been effected primarily through an entity known as the Panama Ports Company, a front corporation for Hutchison-Whampoa Limited, a Communist Chinese-controlled company.) [The New American]
  •  Pursued the Camp David Peace Accords that created a “permanent” peace in the Middle East. Peace is still holding on by its fingernails. Saudi Arabia has finally realized that the United States will no longer fight to protect the Kingdom; it’s time hire their own army.
  •  In response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan he ended détente and thus escalated the Cold War, led the international boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. That showed the Russians who’s boss, for sure.
  • On his watch, the Iranians took over the US embassy in Tehran and held it 444 days until Ronald Reagan was elected President.
  • Carter has never met a dictator he didn’t like.

Bill Clinton’s legacy?

  •  “The first Black President.” [Toni Morrison]
  •  Assault Weapons Ban to ban 19 of the most “dangerous” assault weapons and enacted the Brady Act requiring a background check before retail gun sales.  Progressive-controlled major cities (like Chicago and LA) continue to have the lowest rates of gun crime in America.
  • Impeached and disbarred for lying under oath. Perfects the legal definition of “is”.
  • “Smith & Wesson Agreement” with several cities and counties and the nation’s largest handgun manufacturer, (then) British corporate-owned Smith & Wesson, to reform the way they design, distribute and market their products. No other gun manufacturer follows suit, idea dies out as S&W executives take the company private.
  • Serial womanizer and abuser, including Kathleen Willey, Juanita Broderick (you’ll need to put some ice on that), Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky. His wife then smeared each woman’s reputation. And subcontracted certain duties to Monica.
  • Famous [Dan Rather] question: “Why did you have an affair with Monica Lewinsky?” Famous Clinton answer: “Because I could.”
  •  Under his “leadership” generations of pre-teens learned that oral sex isn’t really sex. He continues to associate with pedophiles to this day.

And what of the legacy of Barack bin Hussain al-Obama II? His most signal accomplishment of many (Black Panther voter intimidation, Obamacare, Fast-n-Furious gunrunning, IRS suppression of conservative free-speech rights, arbitrarily changing or ignoring laws, bypassing Congress, opening the borders, demonizing the police, stirring racial discord and on and on) may be agreeing that the Iranian nuclear program can continue to refine nuclear material in an underground, bombproof site.

What is the common thread? It’s obvious. Each is a progressive that knows much more than any citizen about how people must be made to behave, under penalty of law.

Ideas so good that they must be made mandatory.

So now, what will Obama’s legacy be? Atomic war in the Middle East?

Looks possible.

Don’t Worry – It’s Not Real Money

So you have medical insurance?  Great! Nothing to worry about. For now.

Just relax and pray you don’t get sick.

Alarming trend in the news:

“81 percent of physicians describe themselves as either over-extended or at full capacity, while only 19 percent indicate they have time to see more patients.” [study, The Physicians Foundation, 2014]

“Obamacare’ health care reform ALREADY forcing doctors to close practices” [The Washington Times, February 7, 2013]

“Whether retiring or fleeing, doctors are leaving health care” [Reporting on Health, March 27, 2014]

Why?  Well I asked my knee surgeon year-before-last and he told me that his reimbursements for fees no longer cover the cost of doing business.  He was slowly liquidating investments. My Cardiologist and General Practice physician both plan to accept Medicare as long as they can.  How long?

And what happens after that?

Also in today’s news:

“Conservative lawmakers today expressed their dismay about a deal forged between the House’s Republican and Democratic leaders that would replace a long-criticized formula determining the way Medicare doctors are paid.

Few details have emerged about the impending $200 billion deal between House Speaker John Boehner and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, but conservative lawmakers are criticizing the proposal for adding more than $100 billion to the deficit.” [The Daily Signal]

The deal will increase payments to doctors and replace the current method of calculating how much doctors receive for services.  Maybe that will keep a few more doctors in their practices.

Here’s the backstory: only $70 billion of the $200 billion will be paid for in the first 10 years.  The $130 billion balance will add to the deficit.

The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office says that a permanent fix will cost more than the $130 billion currently on the table.  How much more? Nobody knows, but the CBO says $170 billion. If this proceeds like most Federal expenditures, think 10 times more.  Say, $1.7 trillion.

That amount  seems to be calculated to accommodate the current legal American citizens.

Now let’s add somewhere between 5 million and (conservatively) 11 million new “citizens” to the healthcare system. They are already on the way, so this added cost burden looks unavoidable. Remember that many new citizens already have diseases that we have not seen in many years. Diseases like measles, chicken pox, polio, whooping cough, tuberculosis… the list goes on and on.

Brave new world.  How will we have enough money to pay our debts?

I said earlier that these debts are not going to be repaid with real money.  And they are not.  Why not? Because we have (since 1971) and can always just print more currency so that everybody will have what they need to live and we can pay our debts with the new currency.

What could go wrong?  Hyperinflation, that’s what.

Take a lesson from the Weimar Republic.  The Republic was formed in Germany after WWI. To pay the war debts, new paper money was issued as needed. The more money printed, the more that had to be printed. Restaurant menus were written on chalkboards, and diners paid for their food in advance, because the price was sure to go up before the meal was served.

Like modern-day Zimbabwe, it became impossible to carry enough cash to buy anything.

“The various belligerent Governments, unable, or too timid or too short-sighted to secure from loans or taxes the resources they required, have printed notes for the balance.” [John Maynard Keynes]

Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

I find as I grow older that I do not have answers that I like but I have questions.  If we are to survive as a Constitutional Republic, something has got to change. We patriots are the engine of change and if we don‘t start soon, it will be much too late because the Congress is busying itself kicking the can down the road.

1.  a small-scale usually wooden figure (as of a person) with jointed limbs that is moved from above by manipulation of attached strings or wires

2. a Congressional Republican

Beginning November 2014, House Republicans have now presented a complete puppet show in three acts.

In Act I, there was a post-election shock; the Republican party was victorious. A victory that was so unanticipated that no plans had been made. Within days after victory, the House capitulated to everything that Obama wanted (government funding for 2015) with no ‘strings’ attached.

In Act II, there was widespread outrage from the electorate who had pushed the Republican victory over the top.  Representatives got an earful from their constituents. Loud House rumbles about deposing the Speaker arose. This was immediately crushed by a brutal campaign of intimidation against any Representative who showed concern about ignoring the mandate from the voters.  Then it got really quiet.

In Act III, the Republican marionettes suddenly appeared on stage, marching in high-kicking lock step, singing loudly in support of the Speaker.

[Chorus of Representatives sings]

  • What a fine and upstanding man we have in Boehner.
  • Just a good man struggling with a tough job.
  • No support from the Senate.
  • It’s not his fault.

[repeat continuously]

Why all the sudden weasel words?

Well here’s a theory. Boehner got some cojones from somewhere and sent his lieutenants to  meet with Representatives. “Nice little committee chairmanship you have there. It would be a shame if anything happened to it.”

No cojones to confront the Progs, but plenty to confront the Rinos and push them back.

It’s like the Mafia. If the boss orders you to kill your friend, you do that. Otherwise you will be killed, and somebody else will then kill your friend.  So you do the job.

Threaten death. This is a time-proven way to control rebellious people.

That is why Rino Representatives aren’t publicly outraged. First they have had to helplessly swallow Obama’s lawlessness. Now the bitter bile of the Speaker’s take-no-prisoners ‘leadership’ approach is sour in their mouths.

Proof?  “To be honest with you,” Rep. Paul Gosar told CQ Roll Call, “not all of it is his fault. I want to send him a lifeline. If it works, who knows? We’ll see what happens.”

Brave words from a man of courage and conviction, Representative Gosar.  Even a voter can see your strings being pulled.

Virginia’s Dave Brat, who deposed former Minority Leader Eric Cantor in a primary that Cantor was sure to win, doesn’t believe Republicans truly fought “tooth and nail” (as Boehner had promised) to block Obama’s executive action.

Brat said the only fight he saw was one in which an outside GOP group with Boehner ties  was running $400,000 worth of ads against conservatives in the House. []

Amazing.  Who would have thought that the Rinos would force a fade?

Everyone, that’s who.

And anyway, everybody says that it is all Harry Reid’s fault.  This is Harry Reid, the former Senate Majority leader who lost the election and the Senate majority last year.

Now Republicans just need everyone to forget November, December, January and February. Please.

There’s lots more on Obama’s priority list and all those House Republican votes will be needed to advance the Prog agenda. Good thing that they are completely whipped.

I’m never running for election and I’m not whipped at all.

I ask you – are we and the rest of the voters completely whipped too?

New Party Revealed

A new Uniparty [UNI] has been formed after a cash and suppressed-evidence deal between the Demoncrat party [PROG] and the Rethuglican party [RINO]. The new party will result in significant savings since all political advertising and bribery costs will be shared.

The new party will continue to be publicly represented by former PROG and RINO elected officials who will maintain their respective political positions in the House and Senate so as to maximize donations from voters and increased payoffs from corporations and foreign governments.

Corporations and wealthy individuals have indicated strong support since it will no longer be necessary to bribe both parties and it will be easier to assure that once bought the Congress will stay bought.

Senior UNI executives state that no regulatory, voter or judicial approval will be sought nor is considered necessary.

UNI will consolidate the two major “parties” and is expected to greatly increase the efficiency of governing, because it will eliminate costly and non-productive “debate” in the Senate and House of Representatives.  It will also reduce the confusion before “elections” by assuring that only the right candidates have any publicity. It is expected that the IRS will continue to limit fringe group political action and that the FCC will begin to enforce net neutrality on blogs to correct their radical viewpoints.

According to highly placed UNI officials speaking on background, all details were worked-out in secret, starting in early 2014 so that the election could be held with no effect on the government of the United States regardless of which party had “won” the most votes.

PROG leadership had long been concerned that the brand had been damaged by Congressional and Presidential actions that were repeatedly rejected by Conservative voters. PROG leaders saw that a strong and strategic game-changer was needed. The UNI party is seen as the answer to restore PROG power and control.

It is expected that UNI will dominate the US political marketplace for the foreseeable future and will effectively end minor political interference from the radicals in the Libertarian and Tea Party movements.

The combined party will be well-positioned for continued superior growth, margins and returns.  UNI will provide unsurpassed conformity of public discussion and political theory while rewarding supporters with much greater payouts at much lower risk of legal challenge and no concern for Department of Justice problems.

No formal announcement is planned; UNI has already begun ruling.

Patriots tell me I’m wrong if you think so…

Who’s Yo Daddy?

Headline: Dems vow to protect Boehner from conservative coup

The plot thickens.  It is a new day in Congress when one party vows to protect the leader of the opposition from being deposed by his own party.  It has been 92 years since there has been any challenge to the nominated Speaker for either party.

So what’s different this time?

The Progressives recognize Boehner as the weakest man(?) to ever hold the Speakership and they will be damned if they will let a more conservative Representative take his place and derail their agenda.

The Conservatives agree with the Progs and recognize Boehner as a weakling ‘go-along, get-along’ squishy RINO with no principles.

Why do Congress members care?  One reason and one only. The Conservative electorate is burning up their email and phones demanding that Boehner stand up for the promises made during the campaign.  Threats about “do your job before you ask for our support again” sound a lot like “you are about to get fired”.

They are afraid that he will lead them to defeat in the presidential election and in their individual races.  If this isn’t fixed, they all stand to lose the next time they run for election.

Boehner is not just willing to ‘reach across the aisle’ he has already shown that he will leap across the aisle to do the Progressives bidding.

Obama take all.

Unless Boehner can be deposed, the next two years in Congress will be like the past 6 years. The Progressive agenda will be made law all the way despite the mandate from the electorate.

Chances appear poor.  Electing the Speaker requires a vote of the whole House, and the Progressives have stated that they will hold fast for Boehner.  What a strange world.

So what did we get for “handing the win” to the RINOs?

Apparently nothing.

Early Warning

Beyond Obama’s phone and pen, there are two more secret weapons Congress uses to usurp your Constitutional rights.

These are:
• concealment of what is being proposed, and
• speed of getting it put in place before we voters realize what is happening.

Add to that the complicit Least Significant Media who rarely (if ever) publish news about a Congressional action until it is a fait accompli and we only find out too late to do anything.

Over the next two years, expect many surprise laws and rules that cannot be undone because they have been revealed too late; the vote is already finished and the law is in place. And please notice that the frontline Representatives and Senators are rarely in the news about how they voted.

Hate that? Yeah, me too.

So what can we do?

Today I learned about a service offered by (AKA This Week in Congress).

Sign up for MegaVote on the website. They ask for your e-mail and zip code and send a summary of the bills that were recently voted-on and how your Representative and Senators voted on those bills. [Thanks to Lt.Mom, a commenter on].

You can easily find email addresses for your Senators and Representative.

Google <your zip code, US representative> or US Senator, and the contacts come right back.

We are faced with an almost insurmountable opportunity [Pogo].

If we don’t keep track of who is on our team and pressure all of them with email and phone calls, we have nobody to blame but ourselves when bills we hate become law.

Take an active part in this process, especially now, or don’t be too surprised when you are cheated.

Being Right

Sometimes there is no satisfaction in being right.

Sometimes there is only dismay.

And anger.

I and millions of other Patriots have seen this day coming and have done whatever we could legally do to forestall it. In 2014 we voted and gave the ‘leadership’ of the Republican party a landslide Congressional victory.  Thirty-one Governors are now Republican. Nationwide, the number of Republican Sheriffs and District Attorneys is at an all-time high.

What good did voting do?

Not much. Amnesty for illegal aliens is about to become the law of the land despite the strong objection of a majority of US citizens. This without Congressional approval, by fiat of Obama.

According to CNN, “Republican House Speaker John Boehner, who rarely casts votes, backed the bill, along with his top lieutenants. A majority of House Republicans opposed the bill.  Seventy-five GOP lawmakers joined with 182 Democrats to push it across the finish line.”

Good work guys.

The “Leadership” of  the Congress has folded and bent to Obama’s unlawful decree despite promises to stand strong. Instead, House Speaker Boehner has raised  the faint hope that somehow the courts will decide the issue of constitutionality in favor of the Republic.  Thus he absolves himself of acting under his Constitutional responsibility or the mandate of the voters.

It will take years for the courts to reach a conclusion.

Meantime, millions of ‘new’ Americans will be issued  Social Security cards, receive  unearned tax refunds and disability payments, be granted free college tuition, move into Section 8 housing, be issued EBT cards,  driver licenses and voter registrations.  There will be Temporary Assistance for Needy Families for all the new families (how long do you think temporary will be?). TANF already makes having a job or a father in the home to raise the children unnecessary.

Is this a great country or what?

Once in  place, these things cannot be undone even with a change in political leadership.  Community activists will spring up like mushrooms after a Spring rain and will immediately file suit to stop any action to stanch the flow of goodies.  The vast number of ‘new’ Americans will vote against changes and the ‘old’ Americans will be defeated. Politicians just want to be elected but don’t care how.

Today, political timing is everything. If an illegal order can be put in place fast enough and the new goodies begin to flow, there is no going back. There is only going forward and trying to make the best of a bad situation.

What can we do? It may seem like not much, but here are a few things.

Vote against every incumbent.

We now see that even those who appeared to be our friends remained silent in the crunch and let others do the dirty work.

  • Research the record of candidates of all political flavors and support those who you still feel you can trust, regardless of stated party affiliation.
  • Write, call, email and FAX your disagreement with actions that politicians take, at all levels of government.
  • Follow the news on the Internet (while you can), read and keep informed so that you can mail-flood the elected officials offices as soon as a slimy trick is revealed.

Is this enough? I don’t know, but I do know that we are in this mess because Congress stayed quiet while America was being raped.

If you are as sick of this as I am, let us not stay silent.
